Backgrounds are significantly different from the KOF series as they are all seen in 3D. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter III: Third Strike, the super attacks are kind of lackluster. And especially with recent 2D fighting games like Marvel Vs. Speaking of special moves, the special effects of those crazy super and desperation attacks of past KOF games seem to lost a spark or two if you've played the lot of SNK fighting games, you know how crazy those special attacks can get. However, some characters could use a few more frames in animation, especially in performing special moves. The animation for the most part is pretty good, especially with the new characters that sport some cool idle animations. I personally like using kickin' Kim Kaphwan, pizza delivery boy Terry Bogard (yes, my safety character), new character Whip, and of course, sexy Mai Shiranui (cuz I'm shallow like that). With over 30 characters in the roster, you'll definitely find some fighter that catches your eye. If you like 2D animation, you'll definitely enjoy the cool character designs of KOF'99:EVO. Fans of the fighting game have been anticipating this game with great zeal, and they'll be happy to know that the gameplay is solid with only a few visual faults. Once again, SNK themed fighters around the globe take to the city streets, airport runways, and other interest venues to duke it out. The game sports the default fighting game features, as well as a cool endless survival mode and extra striker mode.

And even though it has flaws here and there, I definitely would go out and get King of Fighters' 99 Evolution, not only because it's a fun fighting game, but to keep 2D alive and maybe get even a few more SNK 2D fighters.įirst off, there aren't many significant changes from the import version.
